10 uncommon ways to recruit people for your company

Wait a minute. An agency recruiter writing a guide to help internal recruiters find people outside of job boards and LinkedIn?

What's the catch? The quality of recruitment in Western Australia, that's what.

Before we explain why we've written this guide, see if you can spot the difference between these two recruitment approaches:

Internal recruiters

1. Attract candidates to their website. Candidates apply for jobs

2. Post jobs on job boards and LinkedIn. Wait for candidates to apply

3. Assess candidates and forward them to hiring managers

Agency recruiters (most agencies)

1. Attract candidates to their website. Candidates apply for jobs

2. Post jobs on job boards and LinkedIn. Wait for candidates to apply

3. Assess candidates and forward them to hiring managers

Quick question. Why are you using these recruitment agencies again?

Why has this guide been written?

The quality of recruitment has to be stepped up in WA. New ideas have to be brought to the table. There's a 15% chance a recruitment agency will fill a job that's been given to them. Is this acceptable?

Far from it.

We mentioned on LinkedIn last week that the internal recruitment process is outshining the agency recruitment process. Many recruiters disagreed. That's fine but it's true for recruitment in Perth and Western Australia.

It's time we shared some of our ideas and knowledge. It's only right we give something of value to employers with internal recruiters.

There are more ways to fill jobs than relying on LinkedIn and job sites. Who knows what effect this will have on recruitment agencies? Perhaps they'll have to work harder for their fees. Perhaps they'll adopt some of the ideas.

Here's hoping.
